I’m sill not writing enough in here, at best (depending on how you count), this is the second post this week, not good.
On top of that I was a little disappointed with my last post, apparently I can not count syllables. I made an attempt to write a haiku and failed. I changed the post so the haiku now has the correct form, but now I do not like it any more.
I had a very good weekend. I saw lots of old Augsburg friends. Good times. Made me miss the newness that used to come every fall. New classes, probably a new professor, possibly a new subject, hopefully new friends, and new books.

One of my favorite words that I use fairly often is aesthetic. I picked up during my college days as an art major. However the spelling the aesthetic usually eludes me with out the help of a spell checker. So I figured I would try to write a paragraph about the work aesthetic to try to use it a few times to help me remember how it is spelled.
Here is a haiku that also uses the word aesthetic:
Thoughts aesthetic
rejuvenate and calm my mind
why think so rarely

Every now and then a particular phrase or word catches me and I make a goal to try to ‘drop it’ in casual conversation. My new favorite phrase is:”…numinous in the quotidian…”I heard it on one of my favorite pod casts TWIT. They were quoting some sophisticated book review magazine. It is a great phrase, all to often with “$20 words” like this, it is hard to find an appropriate context in which to use them. I doubt I’ll have any trouble with this one. I suspect I’ll have to show some restraint.

As more of a personal reminder I’m going to start posting weekly about typos that have plagued me in the recent past. Perhaps if you are struggling with the same typos something in here will help you.
This issues typos are:
1. Double space after a sentence. This is something I just learned about recently. I guess the double space is a hold over from the typewriter days. If one is on a computer, all sentences should end in a single space.
2. “Summery” when I really mean “summary”. I like summer as much as the next person. However I almost never want to describe something as summer like. Hum. Perhaps, I should do that more often.
3. Determine. Turns out there is an ‘e’ at the end of determine. Since it’s not there when it has one any many popular suffixes (determining, determinately), it is easy to forget it needs to be there.
