Here are a couple of places where I get free music (legally).
The iTunes music store has a free song every every week. Recently they also have a free music video every week as well. The website itunesfree.com keeps track of all the free iTunes stuff, I think you can download all the “old” ones too.
The second is via a pod cast from a local public radio station, 89.3 The Current. They have a free song every day. You can find the pod cast by searching for it on iTunes. I would say I only enjoy about 1 in 3 of the songs, but they are free, and there is one every day, so, it does not have to be perfect.
