I love books, I’ve got a bit of a collection going and being an impulse organizer I have really enjoyed cataloging my collection.
For keeping track of books on my own computer I have found a very nice piece of software called Bookpedia. What I like best about it, is how I can use my iSight camera to read is ISDNs off the back of most of my books. Then it automagically gets all the data for books off the interwebs and adds it to my collection.
For sharing my collection of books via the interwebs, what better way then a social network. My cousin pointed me to a cool one a couple of months ago called Shelfari, where you can find my profile.
Where it gets really cool, is that I can export my book collection from Bookpedia, uploaded it to Shelfari to keep them synced up.
The only flaw in this system so far is that the Shelfari importer is a little finicky, but the worst thing I have to do is copy and past the ISDNs of the books it can not figure out what to do with. It would also be really cool if Bookpedia could hook directly into Shelfari and sync up all my data at the click of a button.
Bookpedia also costs about $20, but you can try the system out before you have to pay for it.
